The best crochet stitch on the planet is Siberian, stitch, crochet, best crochet, Russia, Siberia, crochet patterns, heavy crochet, thick crochet, warm
crochet. Anyone who has received a crocheted mitten knows how useless they are. The wind whistles right through them, providing the wearer with little
protection against the cold. And making snowballs? FORGET IT!
I started crocheting shortly before my sister went on a missions trip to Moscow. "Don't crochet me any mittens," she warned me. I heard a challenge.
I developed a crochet stitch which is essentially double-layered, but in a single pass of the hook. I crocheted my sister a pair of mittens that really
worked at keeping out the wind.
When my sister returned from her two-year stint in Moscow, she left the mittens for someone else to use. Perhaps I'll ask my sister to track them down.
There might be an interesting story about them in recent years
